All our volunteers are incredible, that goes without saying, but here we shine the spotlight on one individual and one team who have gone above and beyond in the name of helping hens.
Every year we send out a little token of appreciation to those volunteers who have served six or 12 years (and often more!) and we never expect a thank you in return, which is why Deborah Griffin’s response really touched us. Deborah, who volunteers for us in Somerset, said: “I just wanted to say thank you for the most wonderful gift I received through the post last week. Completely unexpected and utterly beautiful. I absolutely love volunteering with the BHWT and get a lot out of it personally, so the 12 years have whizzed by in a flurry of flapping wings.
“Thank you for the very gorgeous token of appreciation; I look forward to continuing to help our feathery friends in the next year and beyond.”
The thanks are all ours, Deborah.
Finally, we are delighted to report that our wonderful Essex team celebrated rehoming their 50,000th hen in February! Every single rehomed hen is cause for celebration, but this achievement deserves an extra special shout out, so a HUGE well done Team Essex – you are all hen heroes.
Thank you again for all your hard work...
