| Introducing The Hen Herbalist | In Memory Of Lesley |
My goodness, this edition of Chicken & Egg kickstarts a countdown to what is already proving to be rather a spectacular year for the charity, as well as for me personally. For those of you who don’t yet know, we will be rehoming our ONE MILLIONTH hen in 2024 and I am absolutely thrilled beyond measure to be at this milestone! Our special hen is somewhere, right now, on a British farm and she doesn’t know that she will become an overnight star when her working life ends and her retirement begins.
My excitement is hopefully going to shine out of this issue; full of the joy that our hens bring, the love that we give them; our achievements, our aspirations and simply a celebration of our ONE MILLIONTH hen arriving.
On Easter Sunday we launch our ONE MILLIONTH campaign and will be keeping you posted on the various celebratory activities being rolled out to mark the occasion. We want all those involved in our work to share in the delight we feel at Hen Central and across the country. You’ll read inside about our Egg Clubbers who are hoping to raise ONE MILLION pennies to help fund educational kit, about our plans for hen parties across the country – with your hens as the VIP guests, and more.
So, I hope you will pause and reflect with us as we approach the day – hopefully around late summer; I can promise some pretty awesome surprises along the way!
Before ending this ed’s letter, of course, it is to you I give the biggest thank you; it is you, our supporters who have made the accolade possible and from the bottom of my heart comes huge gratitude for allowing me and my wonderful team to make the difference to so many lives, both feathery and human.
And finally, just a note to please let us know if you’re reading this in hard copy and would prefer a digital version instead. Email [email protected] to tell us your preference.
