Looking for a gift with a difference? Why not Sponsor a Hen through the BHWT for a loved one?
It’s a wonderful way to spread the word about our work, as well as to teach people about how they can make a positive impact on animal welfare. We’ve got four fab hens for you to choose from so without further ado, here’s a bit more about each one:
Bonita
Burly Bonita must have been head honcho on the farm before she was rehomed, as she arrived with far more feathers than all her coop mates, and an attitude to match! However, she met her match after she squared up to the resident peacock in her new home and was soon brought down a peg or two when he flattened his tail on top of her.
Lumpy Lil
Lovely little Lil certainly stands out from the crowd with her distinguished facial features. Since being rehomed, she has put on lots of weight and is often first to the food bowl. Lil is also the first to stretch out her wings when the sun makes an appearance – she’d be very well suited to a life in sunny Spain.
Pancake
Bright and confident, albeit slightly scruffy, Pancake was rehomed with her two sisters in May 2022. Free-range freedom suits her, and she has never seemed fazed about the new world she's been placed into – it is as though this is her destiny.
Ray
Named after Ray Mears, this little hen arrived in her new home looking very thin, pale and bald and was a little wary of people, though not her fellow chickens and surroundings. Ray has well and truly settled into her new life, though didn‘t get the memo about retirement and still lays an egg daily.
