Will you help us fund a van for hens?

With warmer weather comes an increase in rehomings which puts us ever closer to our dream of finding homes for 50,000 hens this year. Those 50,000 will enjoy a free-range retirement, scratching for bugs and slugs and dust bathing to their hearts’ content, as nature intended.

But, as winter approaches, these rehomings slow down so as not to inflict extreme weather conditions on hens already thrown into the unknown (if only they knew the amazing things coming their way!).

Thanks to your generous donations, we’ve already bought two vans – one in Devon and the other in the Midlands – which allow us to pick up, transport and rehome hens no matter the weather, but we desperately need to add a third to our fleet so our efforts can remain high throughout the year.

Which is why we are appealing to you, our supporters, to help us raise £20,000 for a new van.

Currently we use trailers in some areas, whereas a van can hold more hens, be used all year round and allows the hens to travel in greater comfort.

Between them, our two existing vans have sent more than 70,000 hens off to a free-range retirement, and having a third will hugely boost our annual efforts.
