Net benefit

A meme-loving hen fan on TikTok by the name K4T3GG donated £67 to the BHWT. Her online livestreams are home to a warm, playful community of “hatchlings”, on a Discord server called The Coop. And if you want to know why she donated exactly £67, maybe ask the grandkids.

Peak condition

Retired special educational needs teacher Sonia Watters and her son Jack tackled the 30-mile Exmoor Perambulation for the BHWT, inspired by her rehomed hens Lizzie, Polly, Ada and Esme – collectively nicknamed the “Pecky Blinders”.

Run wild

Stubborn chicken fancier Neil Woolley developed kidney problems after suffering deep vein thrombosis aged 17, and was warned by doctors against strenuous exercise. His rebellious response? Start running. And next year he’s doing the London Marathon for us. What a legend.
