There are so many ways to fundraise and we love hearing all the wild and wacky ways our supporters choose to do it.
We’ve had donations from TikTokers, brilliant bake sales and wonderful weddings – whatever you choose to do, it’s about raising funds amongst friends and family which spreads the word about hen welfare and brings in vital income to support our lifesaving work.
Scarlett aged 10, from Oakdale Brownies in Poole, chose the BHWT for her charity work towards a badge and raised money in a rather toothsome manner – baking apple crumbles. Scarlett made them with her unit and sold them to family and friends, and the Brownies very kindly returned the fee for her Christmas crafts day, so it could be added to her total donation of £20.
Proving age is no barrier, octogenarian Jilly, who has volunteered alongside BHWT Founder Jane Howorth for two decades, recently donated £200 raised selling items at her local village fair. Her advice? “Ask people for a donation they can afford, rather than setting a low fixed price. People want to be generous!”
Easy peasy lemon squeezy
We’re now signed up to the Give a Little Champion app, making it easy for our community fundraisers to take donations by card, wherever they may be. It makes your fundraising efforts super simple – no need to handle cash, a simple tap will send the funds straight to the BHWT bank account. Win-win.
