Early Bird Learning

You’ll have no doubt appreciated the simply gorgeous photo adorning this issue’s front cover, and here’s another of little Matilda for you to appreciate, this time with her granny and grandad Jan and Ken, plus dog Gina.

Two-year-old Matilda’s mum, Sophie, told us she absolutely loves her grandparents’ adopted hens, helping to feed them, clean them out, collect eggs and, of course, give them lots of cuddles! It’s just the kind of wholesome, perfect life we imagine for all the girls we rehome. Lucky hens, lucky Matilda.

Along with the theme of little ones and hens, we had to share this photo sent in by Julia who told us that her five-year-old granddaughter, Flora, took great pains to ensure the inside of her hen house was fit for the arrival of her new adopted hens. She decorated it with bunting and pictures for them to look at when they’re nesting – how utterly adorable.
