How your generosity will help our poorly hens

A HUGE thank you to all who donated to our Christmas Appeal; you raised over £39,000 for the poorly hens that we save from slaughter every year. As we start rehoming hens again this spring, we’re already putting your generous donations to good use.

We save around 60,000 hens from slaughter every year and whilst most are ready to be adopted immediately, there are always a few hens who need special attention and veterinary care. It is these birds who will benefit from the money donated by you, our kind and caring supporters.

We’re using the funds to overhaul our poorly care team kits including buying heat lamps that provide much-needed warmth and walk-in runs which will soon be winging their way to our teams across the country. As well as new kit, much of the money from our Christmas Appeal has been dedicated to covering vet fees to help give those poorly hens the best chance at a new life. Sometimes, with medical care and TLC, even the sorriest-looking hen can make a remarkable comeback.
