Early Bird Learning: One Million Hens

Carriage fit for a Queen

It would be completely impossible to put together this celebratory issue without giving a BIG mention to the most phenomenal carrier any hen has ever travelled in.

We must pay huge thanks to award-winning British fashion designer Lulu Guinness who handcrafted a Highgrove House replica especially for our one millionth hen to ensure Henrietta’s journey to her royal home was nothing short of perfection.

The carrier, named Hengrove, was crafted in-house by Lulu herself and hand painted with intricate greenery which replicated the outside of Highgrove House. It was further embellished with delicate embroidery and finished with a banner emblazoned with ‘One Millionth Hen’, plus the BHWT logo underneath.

It really was a take-your-breath-away moment when the carrier was revealed on the day, and we are indebted to Lulu for giving up her time to create such an iconic piece of artwork. It remains safely in our possession and will forever remain a piece of the charity’s history.
