Yippeety-doo-da! Yes that pretty much sums up the tone of this edition of Chicken & Egg; I am like a kid waiting for Christmas, only this feels so much more important than a gift – because it is!!

I’ve cast my net hopefully the length and breadth of the UK (and over the Channel) with some amazing memories and input from volunteers who have sprung to mind to celebrate our one millionth hen achievement. This magazine is all about what it means to keep our hens as pets, with all the unexpected benefits that come from keeping the tatty-threadbares we hand over on rehoming days.

We’re also very privileged to have an uplifting interview with Lady Bamford, the entrepreneur behind Daylesford Organic.
