Counting down to a million!

We are absolutely THRILLED TO BITS to officially launch our ONE MILLIONTH happy hens campaign! We expect the lucky lady to be following in the footsteps of her 999,999 predecessors and winging her way to a free-range retirement a little later this year.

Naturally, we’ll be marking this world firstoccasion with celebrations right across the charity and want you, as our amazing supporters (who’ve made it happen after all), to join us in the fun!

You’ll find our ONE MILLIONS HAPPY HENS web page will be inching us closer, feather by feather, towards the million milestone and although we don’t yet know where or when exactly she will be landing, rest assured we will keep you updated on this incredible last lap towards getting our caring hands on this particular little feathery creature. Just think, she’s somewhere right now, completely oblivious of her next step being one into the record books!

We’ll be asking YOU to join in by bringing out the bunting and helping us stage ‘hen parties’ across the UK as well as take part in egg-stra special fundraising challenges.

As always, we are committed to helping as many of the 39 million commercial laying hens in the UK to live the retirement lives we think they deserve. Since 2005, the British Hen Welfare Trust has been rehoming commercial laying hens, working closely with leaders in the egg industry, designing and rolling out the existing rehoming model, and to date we have rehomed more than 960,000 hens.

Every hen adopted now inches us closer so if you can rehome and our life-saving work depends on people like you, whose time, generosity and efforts are shaping a happier future for our feathery pets.
