Forget doggy paddle – this is chicken paddling!

We love hearing from our supporters with their weird and wonderful fundraising ideas, so when Naomi White got in touch saying she wanted to do a swim to help hens we were all ears.

Forgive us for thinking perhaps she’d be doing some laps of her local pool in return for sponsorship... no, wrong, Naomi decided she wanted to swim part of the channel!

In September she swam from Jersey to France (14 miles in total) in just a costume, swim hat and goggles as per swim channel guidelines.

She had a support boat guiding her to French shores, but rules dictated that she was not allowed to get on or even touch the vessel, else her efforts would be null and void. Even food and drink had to be passed to her on a reel which she had to consume while treading water – we're exhausted just thinking about it!

Naomi, who completed the Catalina channel swim back in 2019, used this swim as a practice run for when she one day hopes to swim across the whole English Channel from Dover to France, totalling 21 miles.

We were delighted to hear Naomi is a HUGE animal lover and so chose us as her charity to raise funds for and we’re so grateful for her efforts.
