Giving Chickens A Legal Voice Our Ultimate Guide To Red Mite

Hens getting their steps in

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get their steps up of course! At least that’s the answer in the case of Australian brand Honest Eggs Co.

The company have launched an innovative way of showing just how truly free-range their hens are – by fixing them up with step counters!

FitChix is the first ever fitness tracker for hens which allows Australians to see how free and healthy the hens who lay their eggs really are.

The average step count of a hen on an Honest Egg Co farm (21,000 a day, in case you wondered!) is printed onto each egg as a reminder of their free-range freedoms.

At the farm there are just 30 hens per hectare meaning they have plenty of space to roam, plus the birds are moved each week onto fresh pasture to improve their diet as well as regenerate the soil.

Commenting on the farm’s mission, Co-Founder at Honest Eggs Co., Paul Righetti said: “We want to change egg farming for the better. Our hope is that Fitchix can be part of showing how free and healthy our hens really are, whilst drawing attention to the benefits of regenerative egg farming.”

Our only question is, who’s with us on the next flight down under to do a taste test?!
