The PVG journey so far

Up until now, this kind of diagnostic tool has been widely available for nearly every other species except poultry, and nothing was being done to change this. However, all that changed when the BHWT joined forces with Kelly Rutkowski who, unbeknown to us, was on a similar mission in the United States.

Kelly founded PoultryDVM, an online resource for poultry keepers, but the bigger vision was to create a guide for vets to use when presented with a poorly bird in their practice.

The Poultry Vet Guide has been produced by the BHWT and Poultry DVM with extensive input from poultry experts Sharon Evans BSc (Hons), BVSc, MRCVS and Rebecca Gounaris DVM. There is a small monthly subscription fee to access the information; however, costs have been purposely kept low as the primary aim is to improve veterinary support for poultry across the globe.

The driving force behind the years of work put into this guide is the desire to see laying hens achieve the status they deserve. We believe that wherever there are laying hens and, therefore, people eating the eggs they produce, there is the potential to see them appreciated for the resilient, sentient, life-affirming creatures they are.

This is why our PVG is available globally, so that hens worldwide receive the care they deserve, wherever they are.
