Tarp Marks

A huge thank you to the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust, which generously awarded the BHWT £5,000 towards our vital rehoming equipment. The funding has been used to buy new tarpaulins for our rehoming teams, helping keep hens dry, safe and comfortable as they travel to meet their new families. Okay, maybe you wouldn’t want one for Christmas – but on a wet rehoming weekend, a good tarp is worth its weight in gold. “This tarpaulin is rugged and easy to use, and helps us get the girls where they’re going dry and safe,” says Swansea volunteer Meleri Tweed. So thank you to the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust – guess we could say you’ve got us covered.

Trailer made

A generous £2,000 grant from the Norman Family Charitable Trust is helping us move hens around Somerset. The funding will go towards a new trailer for our Somerset rehoming base, together with loading equipment, biosecurity kit, straps and storage – practical essentials that help make every journey as safe and comfortable as possible. The new equipment will also provide a durable, reusable alternative to hiring or relying on larger vehicles, helping us reduce costs and make our rehoming operation more efficient and sustainable. A huge thank you to the Norman Family Charitable Trust for helping hens in Somerset travel safely towards their happy retirement.
