Feathery fun – some thank yous

The image you’ll have seen on the front of this issue was the result of yet more fabulous collaborative work. Founder Jane was ill at ease with the concept, yet conceded that hers was a story worth telling, and it required a strong visual.

As we all should have expected, the star of the show ended up being not Jane herself, but our feathered friend Clarice, who lives onsite at Hen Central where the shoot took place. She waltzed in, strutting her stuff as if she spent her weekends part-time modelling, and settled into every pose like it was second nature.

Such was her commitment to the cause that the only break she took was to lay an egg in the corridor – that's show business.

Thankfully, Clarice needed no primping and preening, which made stylist Willow de la Roche’s job even easier. It was her responsibility to carefully construct the look you see in these photos, and she was ever the professional throughout the day, despite Jane’s protestations at each and every touch up!

Andy Hill, the charity’s Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, was the vision behind the project and the one who had to convince Jane these photos were worth taking. He organised backdrops, props, timings and ensured the whole day ran to a tee.

The final piece of the photoshoot puzzle was, naturally, the photographer himself and so huge thanks go to Simon Moore for capturing these iconic shots. There’s no doubt you’ll be seeing them elsewhere.
