A year on from the rehoming of our ONE MILLIONTH HEN we look with fondness at the flurry of feathers which have since landed in a soft pile following all the excitement of 2024.
It’s hard to believe that over 12 months have passed since Henrietta flew into her royal coop with all the pomp and ceremony you’d expect for a hen going to live with none other than the King and Queen.
As many of you will have seen and followed on our social channels, there was quite a build up to the big event and we kept you hanging on until all was revealed by our patron, Bob Mortimer. What followed was an unprecedented level of interest from all around the world – it turns out the media quite like stories involving the monarchy!
Unbeknown to her, Henrietta became famous almost instantly, and we even landed an interview spot on the BBC Breakfast red sofa with a hen in tow, naturally.
Since then, we’ve enjoyed some relative calm, aside from a little birthday we enjoyed earlier this year (our 20th, no less). Henrietta continues to enjoy life pottering about in her orchard alongside the other lucky 29 hens she was adopted with, plus some other feathered friends. And fittingly, between them, they pop out enough eggs to use in the Highgrove kitchens as well as sell in the Highgrove Gardens shop, so be sure to stop by and give them a taste test if you’re there for a visit.
What lucky, lucky hens.
