Goosey Goosey Gander

In 2020 we helped to establish Champs Libres aux Poules (CLaP) and the charity, run by Heidi Carneau and her loyal team of volunteers, has helped over 120,000 French hens to date.

Here in the UK, we have, as you know, helped other commercial laying hens than chickens such as broiler breeders and in this edition, we launch our campaign to spotlight commercial laying quail hens. Heidi has done similar with CLaP, most recently helping a flock of breeder geese for the foie gras industry. Over 1,000 exceedingly lucky geese, aged around five years, were scooped up by kind-hearted people to live out their lives in retirement. They make brilliant pets and cohabit beautifully with hens too, just FYI. You can see the geese being rounded up here.
