Good Eggs

Fir Farm in the Cotswolds is an 800 acre mixed livestock farm raising native and rare breed animals using sustainable, high welfare practices

Although they don’t keep hens in a commercial way, Fir Farm adopts hens from the BHWT and loves having them pottering about the farm, which is why we thought they more than qualified for a spotlight moment. Over the last 10 years Fir Farm has grown from a large dairy business to an organic mixed livestock farm with a beef herd, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry. They grow organic arable crops as feed for the poultry and pigs, ensuring that the animals are fed solely on food produced on the farm which are not fed routine medications, but instead given the opportunity to mirror natural behaviours of wild grazing animals.

It’s a pretty good farming ethic, and a very good lifestyle for the animals that are reared at Fir Farm, so they get a big thumbs up from us.
