I think this has to be the biggest and best news-filled Chicken & Egg to date. I have so much incredible news to share!
Firstly, I am thrilled to announce we are now in action in France and you can read more about Champs Libres aux Poules [CLaP] on page 9! Suffice to say that thousands of French hens are already happily clucking, in French, in French back gardens.
Secondly, as you might have guessed from the front cover, we have a new patron: Bob Mortimer. What a joy it was to meet Bob recently and you can find out more about this thoroughly good egg on page 14.
Thirdly, we have just launched an online forum which will become a central hub for pioneering work relating to pet hen welfare carried out by researchers across the country. Read more about this on page 10.
Our Size Matters campaign has taken flight and I’m mightily grateful for the incredible support we’ve received from the likes of Good Food magazine, delicious. magazine, Waitrose and the President of the Guild of Food Writers. This truly is an exciting time for the charity – made possible by your kind support, please remember that.
Finally, and just in case you think you’ll be missing out on our usual features, we have plenty of happy hens, a fantastic competition from the lovely people at Dunelm, lots of good egg stories (thank you all those who work so hard to help) and we end with a lovely And Finally story.
