In each issue we feature our latest Good Eggs who have gone above and beyond to raise money, often in weird and wonderful ways.
Jenny takes to the skies
It’s well known that hens can’t fly (they’ll give it a good go, mind) but that didn’t stop Jenny Slee finding her wings to raise money for us. Despite completing 99 skydives as a student, Jenny’s last jump was 43 years ago, and she took to the skies again in October 2024 for her 100th jump. Not content with any old skydive in the UK, she went to New Zealand for the big event, raising almost £1,000 in the process. Jenny told us she chose to fundraise for us because she sees the value of hens as pets and because, being Type 1 diabetic, she incorporates a lot of eggs into her diet, thanks to her neighbours’ rehomed hens!
Edith’s Christmas donation
18-year-old Edith MacDonald came across the BHWT when she was finding somewhere to volunteer in her local area. She ended up at our Denny rehoming site and then held a stall at Christmas raising £125 for hens and hopes to hold another this Easter. You’re a good egg Edith, thank you!
Thank you to each and every person who fundraises for us in whatever way they can. If you’ve got an idea you’d like to chat with us about, we’d love to hear from you at [email protected] Edith's amazing cakes helped raise more than £125 to help hens.
