When American TV icon Betty White passed away on New Year’s Eve 2021, Cindi Taylor-Pitts was devastated. Betty, who starred in the 1980s sitcom The Golden Girls, was well-known for her work in animal welfare.
Cindi, 74, lives in Oxford but grew up in New York. Cindi said “I grew up with Betty White, she was always there on TV throughout my whole life.”
Cindi learned from her American best friend (also called Cyndi) that fans were encouraging people to donate to animal charities on what would have been the actress’ 100th birthday. So far $12.7 million has been raised! And Cindi gave £25 to the BHWT through her friend, Sarah Calcutt, who happens to be a volunteer for our Oxford team.
Nice one Cindi, you’ve done Betty proud!
